Chosen anti-trafficking film TONIGHT!

Chosen Premiere Film Showing in Seattle
Tickets still available 1-866-437-5433
This event is on 26 September 2013
7:30pm Seattle Aquarium

On Thursday, September 26, 2013, the Seattle Aquarium will open its doors and turn down the lights for students and community members at the Seattle Premiere of Chosen. The gripping new film tells the shocking true story of two All-American girls tricked into trafficking. Brianna and Lacy explain how pimps targeted them in their Washington neighborhoods and how they were rescued. The film was created by Shared Hope International, an international anti-trafficking organization founded by former Washington Congresswoman Linda Smith, to educate youth on the dangers of trafficking.
Today in America, experts estimate at least 100,000 U.S. children are being trafficking within U.S. borders, at the alarming average age of 13 years old. The film and corresponding action pack teach youth the warning signs of trafficking and equip them with resources to protect themselves and others.

How Do Children See Angels?

Hope you enjoy some quotes from Mimi Doe and Garland Waller’s book, Drawing Angels Near, Children Tell of Angels in Words and Pictures.

“When angels wave their arms, it makes music. (age 8)
When I was a baby I used to cry “waa, waa, waa” until my angel came. (age 3)
My angel sounds just like me. (age 5)
My angel has wings and lives up in the sky. They talk to children in their hearts. (age 6)
An angel is a bird with a person in the middle. (age 4)
Angels are silent. They just are there for you. It is like an inside thing. (age 7)
Angels always walk on their tiptoes. (age 6)
Angels love all of the children in the world. (age 6)”

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 as National Missing Children's Day.  Please mark your calendar and on May 25th pray for all missing children. Included in our missing children are an estimated 300,000 American born children coerced into child prostitution each year. Thank you for joining us.

Breaking News:

We have exciting news. Our heart’s desire has been to create a safe house for trafficked youth. We have set sail toward that destination and launched Freedom13 (www.Freedom13.org). Freedom13 is under the umbrella of One Church One Family and together we envision a safe house along with emotional and spiritual healing for trafficked children.

I’ll continue to inform about children trafficked into the sex trade in the U.S. and how to protect our youth. If you have a group interested in knowing about these issues please contact me and we’ll setup a free speaking engagement.

Book Recommendation

I’ve experienced people sharing with me how my book, Heaven Just Believe, helped their family deal with death and loss. I count it a privilege to able to help others during their season of grief and appreciate all of them sharing with me.

With the recent accounts of school shootings, I thought I’d share another book about the loss of a school teacher in hopes of helping more children. The book is about a loved teacher who dies in a car accident and how her class of students learn to accept, cope, and then remember their memories of her with fondness. The book is, I Remember Miss Perry by Pat Brisson. The picture book for age four and up is beautifully illustrated by Stephane Jorisch.
