Who will help the children?

Are there any ministries helping the children who are victims from trafficking? Today, I want to introduce you to one:

Orphan’s Promise/Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).
Their mission – Jesus said, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18). His promise is their mission.

One of the tasks Orphan’s Promise is committed to is job training, such as English and computer classes. Job training protects girls from sexual exploitation by providing them the ability to support themselves. Recently, new computer stations were given to Balay Paglingap, a halfway house for young victims of exploitation and trafficking in Davao City, Philippines. In addition Orphan’s Promise provides:

·         Nourishing food, clean water, clothing and safe housing
·         Health care and medical assistance
·         Life-skills training, such as cooking, sewing and budgeting
·         Christian discipleship and moral support
·         Legal advice and small-business development assistance
·         Orphan and adoption advocacy

Terry Meeuwsen, Director of Orphan’s Promise, shared they are involved in trafficking work in ten different projects around the world right now and are joining forces with other organizations to make a difference in the area of sex trafficking. She said, “It is so deep and so widespread that only with the wisdom, favor, and power of God can it be annihilated.”

Last year I had the privilege of meeting Gigi Endaya who works for Operation Blessing/CBN Philippines. She shared; girls who are victims of exploitation and trafficking have lost their dreams. I was able to give her a copy of my book, Heaven, Just Believe to encourage the girls. I asked her to share with them that writing a children’s picture book was my childhood dream but because of difficulties, was not able to pursue my dream. But the Lord Jesus Christ, who is in the business of restoration, brought my dream to reality at the age of 63. It is never too late for dreams and He encourages big dreams with no limits.
